When it is time to plan a birthday, the choice often comes down to two options: book a table at a restaurant, or book a private room with a big screen. Here is how they compare.

The short answer
Choose a restaurant if you have a large group and want a full menu. Choose a private theatre if you want privacy, a surprise, or a small group that would rather watch a film together than compete with the room noise.
Pick a private theatre if you want
- Privacy for a couple or a small group
- A surprise that stays a surprise
- A film or show on a big screen
- A decorated room without lifting a finger
Pick a restaurant if you want
- A big group of friends or family
- A full menu and many food choices
- A casual, flexible meal
- To celebrate without choosing a film
Side-by-side comparison
| Factor | Private theatre | Restaurant |
|---|---|---|
| Privacy | The room is yours for the slot | Shared space with other diners |
| Atmosphere | Decorated for you, with a big-screen film | Depends on the restaurant and the crowd |
| Group size | Best for small groups; seating differs by room | Easier for larger groups |
| Food | Cake and food arranged in advance | Full menu, order as you go |
| Timing | A fixed slot, for example 2 hours | Usually flexible, though busy tables can feel rushed |
| Surprises | Decor is ready before they walk in | Possible, but you share the room |
| Cost | Priced per room: from ₹799 for 2 hours at Silk Board | Depends on what everyone orders |
When a restaurant is the better choice
A restaurant is hard to beat for big groups, long conversations over food, and birthdays where the menu is part of the fun. If your guests have different tastes or dietary needs, a menu with many options is easier than arranging food in advance.
When a private theatre is the better choice
A private theatre suits couples, small friend groups and anyone planning a surprise. You get a decorated room, a private 4K screening with Dolby Atmos sound at our Silk Board rooms, comfy sofas and air conditioning, with nobody else in the room. It is also a good fit for film lovers and for people who do not enjoy loud places.
How the cost compares
Restaurants charge by what you order, so the bill grows with each plate and drink. A private theatre is priced per room for a slot. At Celebrations Paradise, 2-hour rooms at Silk Board are ₹799 (Couple), ₹1,299 (Diamond) and ₹1,499 (Gold). At HSR Layout they are ₹899 (Ruby Couples), ₹1,399 (Sapphire Package) and ₹1,599 (Galaxy Room). Cake and food are added on top.
Why not do both?
You do not have to pick one. Have a long lunch or dinner with the bigger group, then move to a private slot with the people closest to the birthday person. We are open 9 am to 12 am every day, so you can fit a film around your meal. Book the slot first, then plan the meal around it.
